tab changes
-
If I change the name of or delete one of the tabs along the top of my page – the ones that take you to different pages like Home or Walking for example …. will that change anything else. Will my pages still be at the same address or will that change too?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
First, you can only delete the menu items if you have a custom menu activated. If that’s the case, then you may remove or add items without any effect upon the URLs they are linking to. Custom menu items are just links. -
If you aren’t using a custom menu, then it’s the default pages menu we are talking about. If you want to eliminate an item from the default pages menu, you can do so by setting the page to draft or pending, or deleting the page.

Thanks musicdoc1 for your reply.
I’m not sure I completely understand what you mean – it sounds as though you are saying that if I make changes to the tab link names – say I change it from ‘walking’ to ‘swimming’ then the URL won’t be affected whether I am using a custom menu or not. Is that right? -

That is correct, though it’s not what I said.
In a custom menu, the names of the items are called navigation labels. You may change them freely without the change having any effect on the link URLs they refer to.
In a default menu, which can only be composed of links to static pages (plus the homepage), to change the name seen in the menu requires that the title of the page be modified.
In neither case is the URL affected.
