“tabbertab” customization
-
Hello,
I’m looking for a plugin, or a solution, to customize
the “tabbertab” box that by default displays
recent posts / recent comments / archives.I found this example on the web, where there are 3 custom tabs
and for example, the categories section has custom image, category title and a short description of the category.help me! thanks alot.

Please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here – or link your nickname to your blog as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know. We usually need that to give a relevant answer.

thanks. my blog is not finished yet.
so I put the example I want to follow, it’s on the previous msg.
thanks. -
Since you have refused to give us a link to the blog you are talking about, we cannot determine if you are even in the correct forum, so all we can do is give you the answer for blogs which are hosted here at wordpress.COM, the free hosting service.
That cannot be done with blogs hosted here at wordpress.COM because it requires either javascript, which isn’t allowed due to security concerns, or a plugin which is not allowed here either.

That’s true but first things first. Does in2skywp have a wordpress.COM blog and is he/she in the correct forum or not?

in2skywp is wanting a tabbed widget with tabs at the top of the widget, in the actual widget. You click on one tab at the top of the widget and see recent posts, you click on another tab at the top of the widget and see recent comments, and you click on another tab at the top of the widget and see archives. What they want is three widgets in one widget space – at least that is what is in the sidebar of the linked site they referenced.
This can be done with self-hosted blogs, but not here at .COM – at least I can’t see anyway it can be done. See the widget at the top of the site they reference: http://www.freshngood.com

@tsp: Yes you’re right; I just pointed out that the categories-with-description-plus-image part of it is possible in a text widget, not the whole thing of course.
-
Oh I see, you are right about this: I have a self-hosted wordpress installed. not one hosted by wordpress.

Unless your question is about monitoring nuclear missile tests using PHP script, you are unlikely to get answers at .ORG.
Sad, really sad.
-
I just noticed that the number of pages of comments that have no replies at the .ORG forum has grown to 1727. Multiply that by 30 per page and you get 51,810 questions with no replies.
-
Note to wordpress.COM bloggers: This solution below does not work here. It is ONLY for self-hosted .ORG bloggers.
@in2skywp, we aren’t really supposed to answer .ORG questions here since it can tend to mislead bloggers here at wordpress.COM, but take a look at this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tabbed-widgets/ .
I got that link as the first result by going to extend > plugins and searching for “tabbed widget”. The search function on the extend pages has been greatly improved over there and it is not a lot easier to find the things you are actually looking for.
-
Oops, typo alert.
The last sentence above should read, “and it is NOW a lot easier to find the things you are actually looking for.
-
Wow, last time I checked it was “only” 1500 or so. Going back 4 years.
I must say that’s one reason (in addition to the total rudeness) I have no tolerance for those in this forum who bump their threads, shout or write “hello??” or “can anybody be bothered to help me” etc, etc.
I’ve stopped helping anyone who does that.
-
thanks sacredpath. I should do some more searching.
I tried the tabbed-widgets thing, but unfortunately, what it does is just put
a vertical link list into a widget area, not very good.
but thanks, will search more.
