How can I make a table of contents on the first page?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

There are two ways you can have a table of contents as your home page.

    (1) Manually design your table of contents page using headings and bullet points and link them to your pages and posts. Something like this. Then set this page as your homepage.

    (2) Use the sitemap shortcode to show all your pages in a hierarchical bulleted list. See the example in this support document.

Do let us know if you have further questions, we’ll be glad to help.

Thanks for the advice. It pushed me in the right directions. You have to sit and fiddle with the buttons for a few hours till you get a little less confused. I found “Widgets”, a crazy way of saying “assigned space” or so. I found that under “Customizing”, then “Widgets”, then “Footer 2” you can choose “Add a Widget”, one of which is “Recent Posts”. This will automatically list the content in the way I was thinking of. You can choose how many should be considered your “recent” posts. But it’ll be in the very bottom of your blog not at the top. But it’s rather ok. Thanks again.

  • You’re welcome. Glad you discovered the use of the widgets that meet your requirement. :)

The theme you’re using for your site, Radcliffe 2, offers three widget area at the bottom of the page. If you wish to have the widget to display at the left or right side of the page (we call them as sidebars), you can choose one of these themes:

    – Left sidebar: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/left-sidebar/abagthisbig.wordpress.com

    – Right sidebar: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/right-sidebar/abagthisbig.wordpress.com
