Table of contents not showing in sidebar
-
Hi there,
I have created all the HTML anchors as asked for with no hyphens, but the table of contents doesn’t seem to generate anything and stays blank in my sidebar. Can you help?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I couldn’t find any blog posts on your site where I could see this in effect. Could you share the link to the post/page with the table of content inserted so that I could see what’s going on?
Thanks!

Hey! So for example this page has it: https://wordpress.com/page/mygutfeelings.home.blog/224
I added it as a widget to the right hand side bar under the search bar, but it doesn’t seem to auto populate anything. If I had it into the main text as a block it works, so unsure if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s an issue outside of me? -
Hi there,
That is a private link to the editor view of the page (which only you can see) but I have viewed the pubic page here: https://mygutfeelings.home.blog/travel/greece/faliraki-rhodes/
To explain, the theme you are using is an older one that was created several years before we had a block editor, and sidebars used a different content device called a “widget” instead.
On a classic theme like this, while it does have the basic ability to work with blocks, due to the way its coded there are some limits to how much compatibility there can be for more avdanced block functions. In this case, blocks added to the sidebar are separate from the main content, and they don’t have a way to talk to each other.
Instead, the sidebar on a classic theme like this is a good place to add content you want to be sure is the same on every page on your site (such as an about me blurb, list of categories, subscribe link, etc.)
The good news is that the anchor links you added appear to be correct, and if you add the Table of Contents block to the blog article itself, instead of the sidebar, it does correctly populate with links.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for your help, I think I’ll just change my layout and make things tidier/easier :)
