table's td element's valign value is ignored by rendering engine
-
Web Page with Simple HTML:
<table><tr><td valign=”top”> link to picture inserted here</td>
<td> </td>
<td valign=”top”>complete paragraphs of text here </td></tr></table>produces a picture on the top-left (correctly) then produces below the picture, the text (incorrectly positioned). The text does appear to the right of the picture’s right hand margin, but does not start at the top of the table as it should.

Hi.
You can use this guide:
Table coding for wordpress.com users -
Thanks! Guess I’ll need to brush up on HTML5? Or is this peculiar to wordpress sites only?

Unfortunately, this cannot also mean that your tables will remain unchanged if you switch to a different theme: since each theme has its own default styling, changing theme may result in a different appearance, i.e. different quirks you may need to override. To do this really effectively, you need to examine the CSS of the theme
.
From that guide. -

You need the custom design upgrade to change the CSS.
But forget it, that guide is all you need for tables on WordPress.com
Trust me. ;) -
I appreciate your detailed assistance with this. It’s been *very* helpful!
Thanks!
