Tabs for your Blog!
-
I am currently using the theme made by: Borja Fernandez
The problem is, I do not know yet how to insert those tabs for the theme. Examples of the tabs I’m talking about are these:Home, Blog, Chat, Secrets, Cool Things.
Those are examples of tabs where viewers can easily click and understand the concepts of what to view. So my question is, how do I add more of those tabs? Currently, I just have Home and Blog. -
Those are pages, and you add pages at dashboard > write > pages (very similar process to writing a post). Pages are static content and will not automatically update. The only page that will automatically update is the “home” page where your posts appear.
-
I just made one for fun, to test it out.
I labeled it “chat”, and wrote “Currently Updating” as the words for the page.
Now, once I published it, it went under my “Blog” section. But not on the tabs where it’s suppose to be in. -
@darkangel225
What is the URL of your blog? The one linked to your user name says it has been deleted. It would help if we could see what you are describing and what theme you are using. -
Are you sure you clicked “Write Page” instead of the default, which is “Write Post?” They are tabs near the top left hand side of the Write page, above the text box where you type. Above the title.

Sure, here’s the URL:

I want more “tabs”.
So far all I have is Blog and About. -
Does the test page you created show up under manage > pages or have you already deleted it?
-
nod to rain
@drkangel225
rain is right, you used the write post function instead of the write page function. -
Yep, I wrote a page.
I went to Manage —-> and then Pages, and it says “chat” which I made to test it out.
You see, look at this website’s tabs: http://graser10.wordpress.com/
Blog, About, Chat, Cool Things, Mission Guides, Pixel Penguins, and Secrets.
Those are what I’m looking for. -
Each of those “tabs” is a page that the blogger has created. You simply need to create the pages you want, and name them what you want.
-
I just deleted the temporary one for “About” that you get when you fist join. So I only have one tab now. So I should simple go to Manage > Pages, and make one and when will the tabs form on the Top Page?
-
No, go to write > page. That is where you create pages. Manage is where you go to edit or delete them after you have created them.

I just solved my own problem.
Go to Manage -> Pages
Pull down the filter option and filter for page type “Draft”
You will realize that you saved your page not published.The page must be published.
-
I’m having the same problem, too. I have tried everything above, but still have no tabs.
I’m trying to introduce an about page as a separate page from the main posts, but I get no new tab when I publish the new page. Is it my theme?
Any advice warmly appreciated.
Thanks

@dcsamuel
Is it it my theme?
We do not know because we cannot see your blog.
What is the url for your wordpress.com blog?
And have you followed the advice above?Some theme have page tabs across the top of the theme or under the header and some do not. <s/rong>For themes that do not have horizontal page tabs you must place your Pages widget in the sidebar in order to have links to the pages.
-> Presentation -> Widgets
Scroll down and find the “Available widgets” box
Drag the Pages widget into the Sidebar Widgets box
Click “Save Changes”.
