Tag and Category Glitch?

    I’m in the process of deleting all posts, pages, categories and tags from my site so I start over (site is currently on private mode for this reason, FYI).

    First, deleting things causes errors but they do eventually get deleted.

    But my biggest question relates to an issue I’m having. I’ve deleted all tags and categories except one each since I know you must have at least one category. However, now when I rename the only tag I have (which can’t be deleted), it also renames the Category to the same name (I have verified this by checking under Categories after). I even tried renaming again from the Category screen and the Tag changes to the same name with it.

    What’s going on here? Is my database corrupted or something since I’m deleting things to start over (as per the instructions on WordPress.com)? I’m nervous to import anything and have it cause more issues (I’m transferring my site from another host back to WordPress.com soon).

    Hm, would you please clarify which one you’re trying to rename and what you’re renaming it to?

    Alternatively, we can clear the whole site for you if you’d like. Since it cannot be undone, please confirm the URL you’d like us to empty. :)

    Thanks. I already got everything cleared out, and then reloaded the posts, etc. that I wanted to keep. Took awhile deleting with errors popping up (finally figured out deleting en masse is too much so deleting less posts at a time is best!) Funny, importing content from previous self-hosted WP site took less than five minutes. 😂

    As for an update on the glitch, I just checked the tag and category I was unable to change or delete since adding all my content. I was able to delete both separately just now. Perhaps as I was deleting so much content manually last night, something was acting up that had caused this and now it is fixed.
