tag, category and tagging other bloggers

In WordPress ‘tag’ and ‘category’ are the same thing. But when a blogger says they’ve ‘tagged’ other bloggers, how does that work? For example, I’ve got a challenge on my blog at the moment and I want my blogfriends to enter it … how do I do that?

You simply post your challenge on your blog as a blog post. Then you promote the challenge in any online social networks, forums or groups you belong to and invite fellow bloggers to take up the challenge.
When you are tagged to participate in a meme you in turn tag other bloggers ie. regular readers on your blogroll to participate in the meme. An example of a meme you could be “tagged” with is: name three things you dislike about blogging. You create a blog post that responds to this and in the post you link to 3 other bloggers, they respond on their blogs and each of the 3 bloggers tags 3 other bloggers and so on.
