tag count increased, but I don’t use them: pt 2

I thought I would provide an update to a topic I posted back in December. Here is the link to the original topic, which has been closed to replies for some reason: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=19350&replies=7
Back in January, support wrote to say it must be a bug and that they would look into it. Since then, my mystery tag count held steady at 54 tags, but otherwise nothing changed until the dashboard was redone with new features, including the ability to manage tags.
On the manage tags page, it showed I have 3 pages of tags: Nothing seems to exist on pages 2 and 3, but on the first page, there were 2 checkboxes next to two terms I had once entered for blog surfer, assigned to zero posts; there were also 17 checkboxes next to blank lines assigned to zero posts– I deleted these. My mystery tag count is now 37. The manage tags page says I still have a second page of tags, but when I click page 2, as before, nothing is there (no checkboxes, no blank lines).
So mystery tags are still goofy, but a little less goofy than before. Perhaps others with the same issue will be able to delete their mystery tags with the new manage page.

A lot of people got free mystery tags with their update. I got 66, and I’ve never used tags. At least they don’t seem to interfere with anything.
All the old threads got closed for some reason. Very annoying, as it seems to take them off the search feature entirely now and there’s some useful info in there.
