Tag links

If you press the tag on one of my footers, it takes you to a refreshed page but does not show content.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Since https://sacredbraincandy.wordpress.com/ evidently has no published posts, and no published projects, I surmise that the tags displayed in the footer widget area of the site are assigned to a static page, or to multiple static pages. I’m able to replicate such an effect on a test site by adding tags to a static page or pages.
Dara presumably includes a tags field in its page editors so that one may assign the featured content tag to a page in order to add that page to the featured content slider. However, a static page with a specific tag assigned to it will not be included in the corresponding tag archives page, which will include only posts with that tag assigned to them. Since you haven’t any published posts, each tag in your tag cloud points to a non-existent tags archives page.
-
The solution is to include either no tags in static pages, or, if you’d like a certain static page to appear in the featured content slider, include only the feature content tag in that static page.
-
Correction 1:
“each tag in your tag cloud points to a non-existent tag archives page.”Correction 2:
” include only the featured content tag in that static page.” -
Thank you! If I upgrade to premium. Would I be able to recode this so that when people press or search a tag, they will be directed to the page?
I just created a “Test Blog” blog post, but it still does not show up when the tag link “blog post” is clicked on.
Or, is there a way when I upgrade to premium to recode so that I have the option of attaching blog posts to pages?
E.G. “Test Blog” under “Blog” page -> “Journal”
I also adjusted the menu so that “Test Blog” appeared in the submenu “Journal,” but I don’t like “Test Blog” showing up and as second submenu, and that it also does not show up on the “Journal” page.
-
Update: The “Test blog” does show up now when the ‘blog post’ tag is clicked.
But when ‘blog post’ is searched it does not appear.
Revised question: If upgraded to premium, could I recode the search engine so that it also refers to tags?

You’re welcome.

I don’t know. You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention to the topic. When a staff responds you may inquire about this.

I still find no published posts on the site https://sacredbraincandy.wordpress.com/. If you do publish a post, then in order to have it included in the “blog post” tag archives page, the tag “blog post” must be assigned to it.

From my post in the forum topic POST TO PAGES ISSUES:
You can’t post to static pages. There is only one blog page per WordPress.com site. You may use category pages to organize posts into separate groups by category. However, every post, regardless of the category or categories assigned to it, will still appear in the blog page. I suggest that you do the following
- Add categories to the posts corresponding to the categories to appear in the menu. A category page is automatically created when a category is added to at least one post. A specific category page grows each time you publish a new post with that category assigned to it, or assign that category to an old post.
- Then create and activate a custom menu, including links to category pages among the main menu items. You may optionally nest links to the posts as sub-menu items beneath the category items, as described in the Changing the Order & Creating Sub-Menus section of the Custom Menus support page.
Some relevant support pages:
If you already have a custom menu set as your primary menu and displayed then omit the instruction “Then create and activate a custom menu,” and apply the instructions to that menu. You might also check out other forum topics under the “post in pages” tag. See, for example, the following topics: Add page with ability to include content, or How to post in pages?
I also adjusted the menu so that “Test Blog” appeared in the submenu “Journal,” but I don’t like “Test Blog” showing up and as second submenu, and that it also does not show up on the “Journal” page.
Again, posts are not automatically displayed in static pages. They may be made to do so by inserting Display Posts Shortcode into the content of pages, but what you’re attempting to do is addressed in the quoted passage, and in the relevant support page links, provided above regarding using category pages to arrange posts by category in a custom menu.

I still find no published posts on the site https://sacredbraincandy.wordpress.com/, and not I find no tags displayed either.

I don’t know. You may ask a staff member about this, if you choose to call for staff attention, as mentioned above, by adding a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic.

I don’t find “Test Blog” as a sub-menu item in your menu. All of your menu items are presently linked to static pages, including your “Blog” page. These include parent pages and child pages.

If you prefer to arrange your menu by tags, rather than categories, then you may simply replace categories with tags in the relevant instructions above, and likewise “category pages” with “tag archives pages.”

Looks like musicdoc already answered most of your questions (thanks!).
Revised question: If upgraded to premium, could I recode the search engine so that it also refers to tags?
No. The search engine works the same for all sites, regardless of the plan.
