Tag Search
-
When I go to reader and enter a tag to search on I am not getting all the results.
For example someone I follow tags one of her posts “kings cross” I entered kings cross in the tags in order to search for it. At the time her post had been up for 55minutes and the results I got from that search was 2 hours previously.
I’ve done the same search just now before posting this and the kings cross post shown under the tag search is 5 hours old, the person whom I follow doesnt have the post appear when I search for it.
Can someone advise why this is?
The reason for me wanting to test this is because I am thinking of starting tagging on my posts and only want to do this should people find my stuff should they search on the word used.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Can you link me to a couple examples of posts you are expecting to see when you search but cannot find?

As mentioned in the post the tag “kings cross” was the one I tested the search on.

Also If I search on items I have tagged on my own blogs I cannot find them in the reader/tag search

http://thatsaucytart.wordpress.com/2014/09/26/an-inauspicious-beginning/ that post has VASTLY too many tags on it, and will be excluded from tag searches and pages because if the tag spamming.

Ah ok, that explains that one.
IAs for the 2nd example, do our own tags not show up on searches?

Also If I search on items I have tagged on my own blogs I cannot find them in the reader/tag search
That post was published back in January. Do you have a more recent example to test with?

It may be because you have your site set to “Discourage search engines from indexing this site”. The WP search engine is probably respecting that.
Is there a particular reason you have your site set that way?
-
Ahhh I thought that was just for external search engines.
The reason for that choice was two fold.
I didnt want the possibility of close family and friends finding and following the blog as I thought I would end up censoring myself.
Secondly I fired up a test blog which ive now deleted and encouraged search engines and was amazed at the number of pointless ghost followers I got, people that would follow and never ever interact, in fact 100% of the followers to that blog were like that. and so I wanted to try and avoid that.

Yeah, there are some drawbacks. But overall, I would choose the visibility that the search engines give you.
