tag sends me two lines lower than expected
-
Hi,
I have just added some <!–more–> tags into my Posts, though I can’t understand why, when clicking on them, the reader is sent to a place in the Post two lines below where I would expect it.
In fact, one line of text is now not visible to the reader in either the section prior to clicking on “More” or the section after clicking.
I have made sure that I have put this instruction in its own paragraph, i.e.:
<p><!–more–></p>
but still the problem remains.
Many thanks in advanced for any help.
Regards

Hi there. I checked your first few posts and every time I click the more-tag it takes me to the next line in the post when the single-post view opens. With your latest post, the last line in the preview starts with “=AGGREGATE” and the next line in the single post view starts with “(Note that we must…” Is there text missing between those two?
Also, remove the p-tags on either side of the more-tag. There should ideally be no other html enclosing the more-tag to prevent possible glitches.

Ah, apologies.
I’ve just realised that the only reason I personally can’t see that line is due to the WordPress menu bar at the top.
I logged out and viewed my site as a guest and everything is as you say.
Stupid of me – apologies and thanks a lot for your time.
If I could still just ask a follow-up question it would be much appreciated: if I choose to have the “More” link send the reader straight to the top of the post, is there any way I can do that by adding something to my Customize CSS?
The only suggestions I’ve come across seem to involve a bulk replace in the functions.php, but I’m not even sure where that is, nor if I can access it with this Theme.
If that is the only way, and this Theme allows me to do it, could you let me know what I need to do?
Once again, many thanks for your time.
Regards

We don’t have access to our blogs’ base files, so you won’t be able to do anything that way.
I have no idea if it would be possible with CSS. Please post your question directly in the CSS Customization forum for an answer on that one and for what code would be necessary to make that change: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform
