Tag surfer not adding new tags?
-
I’ve noticed something strange about the tag surfer the last few times I’ve been on: the list of tags I’m watching has stayed the same, even though I’ve been posting and adding new tags. Is there a limit to the number of tags it tracks at any one time?

I’m not aware of any limit and none is mentioned in the FAQs or forum search box. It seems that you will have to send staff a feedback to gain this information. (The feedback button is on the top right hand corner of any blog page.) In the meanwhile if you search you can use Google and put site:wordpress.com search-term and then it will just return results from here.

Not a clue actually but it wouldn’t surprise me if you had to add new new tags into the tag system. The forum here is setup in a simular manner. When you change your URL for your username, it doesn’t copy over. Hmm, the avatar does though. I don’t use it myself so I can’t tell you for sure.
Feedback sent.

I don’t think they automatically add on the tag surfer. The initial ones were to get you started.

If you write a new post in a new tag/category called ‘rabbits’ then that tag/category would not be added to the tag surfer.
Given some people has incredible numbers of tags, it would make the system unwieldy.

ah, ok – thanks for that. I guess the idea is to weed it down to the few you want the most.

Do note however, that if you add tags to the Tag Surfer page they will also be added to your categories (Dashboard > Manage > Categories) if they did not currently exist. Then if you delete them from the Tag Surfer they will stay in your categories list and you have to delete them there as well.
