tagged and catagorized entries not showing up in main listings

Recently I had taken down my site (went private), everything up to that point worked fine and then I came back, redid my main page and made sure that the “private” settings were done right (the first option).
However I have noticed that when I click on a tag or category, it goes to that specific main listings of recently updated journals (new entries), however my journal isn’t showing up.
I believe that I am using the Sapphire template…and here is the journal:http://mr0mephistopheles.wordpress.com/
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It takes awhile for a blog to get integrated into the tag/category system. How long has your blog been public?

Same thing w/ my blog posts — they often appear in some tags categories immediately after posting, but then “Disappear”
For example, this blog post doesn’t appear in Politics, Barack Obama or hillary clinton, although I marked all those

Loomis, first of all, love the Seattle skyline (it’s my hometown). But your situation may be different than the guy who posted this thread. I think he’s new and it takes a hot minute for that stuff to be indexed. But, I was told that there may be a bug with tags. What I was told to do was go to settings and switch the language for your blog. Save, and then switch back to your primary language. It’s supposed to reset. But this is different than a new blogger, who would have to wait for a category to be listed, if they’re using a category which hasn’t been used before.

thanks, tried it (several times) — changed language under “settings” AND at the “preferred language” setting at the front page
— rebooted, deleted cache folder (manually), etc —
sometimes that makes my post go to the “headline” of one of the categories (e.g., it’s up on “Democrats” at top right now) but in any of the other categories (e.g, politics, or barack obama) it’s not even listed.And I’ve waited some time for it to reset, like an hour.

–no, you are in error, this guy isn’t new, I’ve been here for at least a good two, three months and it always worked the way it was supposed to. And I also realize that it takes more than a “hot minute” for the “stuff to be indexed.”—

—I have been here for, as I said, at least a good two, three months with never a problem with the entries being listed within a reasonable amount of time in the “menus” for recently updated journals.
It only happened AFTER I took the journal to private, for about two weeks, then redid the “settings”…and did an UNprivate and switched to the first option, like it had been before I took it to private.
The entries are not showing up, period, on the menus that list the recently updated entries, based on categories and tags.
I don’t use categories which haven’t been used before, even though when I was first here, I started up at least three categories that weren’t here before, but are now, yet that is not here-or-there.
I have it all set up the way it is supposed to be set up, and none of the entries are showing up on the recently updated menus, under the corresponding tag or category. -

Mro – I meant new because I thought you said that you had just recently changed your privacy settings; so that you wouldn’t have been in the system for a while?

I seem to be having the same problem.
It might be staring me in the face but for the life of me I can’t see any language switcher in settings!

If you’re using 2.5.1 you are independently-hosted and thus will never show up in the WordPress.com global tag page system. It only applies to blogs hosted at WordPress.com.

Same issue…Ive looked back to April post and realized non of them show up in the tag/category system. You can click on a tag and wont see it on the page with the other tags of the same name.

Have you tried the “change language” think that diamond mentioned earlier in the thread?

I tried that – and I found something interesting at play.
(First let me say I have gone back and re-time stamped a number of my post to test this out.)Here is what I found.
The post, after changing language, would post in the categories section…if I only had it in one category. But some of them ended up in only one of the tags if any at all.
So Im confused. This used to work fine – Maybe it has something to do with the new way they have tags added. (i.e., not sure this was ever an issue before the new tag system…seems there is a bug there.)
Im on a Mac by the way using safari. But my entry with the ‘fox’ gave me the same problem.

I was told by support that more than 12 tags wont get posted.
Most of these are now modified to 2 to just a few.Peace

Here is a perfect example:
I updated the Mushroom video from TED.
It shows up now under the Education category and mushroom category (before it showed up under neither) but still is not under life.Peace

Interesting. I’d send that in to support; it jibes with something I noticed last week on one of my posts. It was Featured Post for all of WP.com, which warmed the cockles of my heart, so of course I looked to make sure it was perfect and I’d forgotten to categorize it. It had only the default Culture category. So I added four more and while it’s on those pages, it instantly fell off the Featured Post status. I think they must still be tinkering with tags and categories.

Well as of today it appears to be working, so I could not repeat it for them to test.
On one note it can be said about time stamps that they are not meant to be updated in the pages. (Again, my issue was with original post not showing up.)
However there is an inconsistency there as well as time stamps will randomly update the post. (Not to mention all you have to do is cut and past material into a new post…although with the issues I had it wouldnt matter anyway.)
What is interesting is one of the categories (life applications) did not have any of my post in it, and only had one post in it by one other person.
Now all of my post appear to be there, and the guy is not in any of the pages for that category.
There is something up with the system…but its hard to track a bug on the move I suppose.
None-the-less support has looked into it, I can only hope I helped.
I also referred them to this thread here to show that this random issue is happening to other users as well.Peace
