Tagged post not showing up on tag summary pages
-
My post today was tagged with 5 tags, all but one of which I’ve used before. The post went up fine, but when I click on the tags at the top of the post, my new post is not included with all the other posts recently made with that tag.

This morning a tagging system was introduced and that changed the way categories were previously used to display on the wordpress.com tag pages. Apparently part of those changes was to reduce the number of categories to one. This does not surprise me as many bloggers were gaming the system by using the same huge blocks of unrelated and inappropriate categories on each and every post they made. Now we will all have to adjust. We will have to learn how to assign posts to single categories and we will have to learn how to use tags.

Thanks for replying. I’ll have to try various things to see what happens — it seems like none of my tags got picked up, but in another blog one of four did — but not the first or the last, so it was sort of random.
Those bad apples (overzealous taggers) . . (shakes head) . . .spoiling it for everyone.

Actually I’m looking forward to the use of a built-in tagging system. Many blogger’s have requested one.
Just to be clear though the Categories will end up on the global wordpress.com tag pages. But the tags you use will not appear there. Tags direct readers to your blog posts alone.

@tt: “Tags direct readers to your blog posts alone.” I wish that this were true. But my first experiment with wp.com tagging suggests otherwise. Tags at the end of posts seem to link to the global WordPress.com tag pages.

This is just great…a big change…no instructions…Is it true that we will no longer be able to tag our post under multiple categories?
Since there are so many bloggers whose work doesn’t fit under a single category…it seems they lose…when some one loses I begin to wonder who is winning…Where do we go to get instructions for this new system?
Sheesh

@andrew
Your’re right! I just checked out a post I made and I find it in the wordpress.com tag pages under all of the categories and under all of the tags I gave it. Consequently both tags and categories are global. Thanks for bringing that to our attention. :)Is it true that we will no longer be able to tag our post under multiple categories?
No. Apparently this isn’t true at all. :)
Staff has not provided instructions with the exception of the FAQ entry that I linked to above. http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/09/21/the-difference-between-tags-and-categories/

@astrbear
It seems I was wrong (see above). Your blog is not functioning correctly and you will need to contact staff during support hours, if they don’t see this and help you sooner http://wordpress.com/contact-support/
