Tagline doesn’t show & no author on posts?

I’m just in very basic testing mode at the moment as you can see, so far many things are going well however two main things…

    1) for some reason the tagline text doesn’t show up on the actual blog. I checked in the general settings and there is text there but no where do I see it. Any clues how to fix that? Kind of important to have a line of blog description.

    2) Many blogs show the authors name under the title, is there any way to do this?

    Thanks!

Without a link to the blog, we can only guess. We can make some pretty educated guesses, but why not make it easy on us by giving us the link, starting with http?

Apparently I’m new to this and thought it was automatic as it said my url when I created the post, here it is…as I mentioned all dummy copy, test photos, etc.

Not all themes display the tagline and/or author and the one you’ve chosen displays neither. You can use photo editing software to put the title and tagline on your header image, but there’s nothing you can do to add the author if the theme designer chose not to include it.

You can preview themes from your dashboard to see what each displays.

For posts, the only solution if you do not wish to change themes is to add a “byline” to the beginning of each post such as, “Written by Samantha”.

Thanks. Naturally I’m bummed! I was wondering if it was a theme issue on the tagline, sure I can creat a picture with the tagline in a photo editing software, but then it doesn’t exist in your source code tags.

As for the author issue, I will think about the byline and see how it looks, that might work.

For your tagline, one solution is to put it into a text widget at the top of your sidebar.

    Thank you, scared path.

Actually I just spent time going through every other template with a customizable header that I felt worked to see what elements they each had. nothing really did it for me and I then lost one other feature which I like (having excerpts dispalyed).

I finally went right back to this original one I loved and I put in the by line into the actual post as suggested above which I think works perfectly well. And yes, I do also plan to have in my welcome section my name and photo, that kind of thing. I’ll build a tagline into a custom photo, I can live with that but glad I worked everything else out.

This is just a test version so I can learn how to use the system, now I am kind of excited to build my real blog.

    Thanks!

    samanthaspirit,
Aw. The excerpts feature is great. You can customize them and even have pictures! My favorite!
