Tagline in the header

I have a killer tagline that I want in the header, but after going through the support pages, I think I have chosen a theme that doesn’t allow the tagline in the header. Is there a go around for this? I really want the tagline to be the first thing they see. Thanks!

I believe this may be the blog in question http://mamamars.wordpress.com/ If so then it’s wearing the Greenery theme and it does not provide for a tagline. If you do want one you will have to switch themes.Will you please consider linking your username to your blog? Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.
Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

Yeah, that’s me, nice detective work. I made the change you recommended. I really like this theme, but I love my tagline. Decisions, decisions. Thanks for the help. xo

I found a bit of a go around, for anyone else who’s got a theme that does not allow taglines. If you go into widgets, under gravatar, you can add text that will be displayed next to your gravatar. The text isn’t big, but it does sit at the top of your page right next to your gravatar.

I want to add a couple of things.
(1) Place your tagline here > Settings > General because search spiders expect to find it there and they can read it there even though it’s not displayed to visitors
(2) Taglines are branding message that contain keywords for SEO (search engine optimization) purposes. Goodle selects what to display but if we are savvy and we do create an effective Blog Title and Tagline of less than 63 – 67 characters including spaces the odds of having them displayed in the SERPs (search engine page results) are high. You can also create your own header image (740×171px) with the blog title and tagline on it, upload that image in Appearance > Header, and click “No” next to “Display Text” so that the regular title won’t show up.
