Tagline not showing in Syntax Theme
-
Hello! I’ve just changed to the Syntax theme and my tagline isn’t visible anymore. Could anyone please help me with this? My tagline is visible in General Settings and it was visible on the two previous themes I’ve used. Any ideas? Really grateful for any help so thanks in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your site description is commented out. The Syntax theme demo site does this as well, though: http://syntaxdemo.wordpress.com/
I’m not quite familiar with the site, so I’m not sure if it is something that can be set in the theme’s options. If not, then we’re out of luck. That’s just how the theme was made in the first place.

Thanks very much for replying, hfzrhmn. Mm, it does seem that this theme doesn’t support a tagline which is odd! I’ve got around it by adding it after the blog name but it’s not a perfect solution. In any case, I appreciate your help. :-)

You’re welcome! It’s rare indeed that a theme hides the site tagline. If it were hidden with CSS we could re-display it with custom CSS, but it’s built into the code and there’s no way to do that here :(

This reply is misleading: first, CSS editing requires the Custom Design upgrade, and you don’t seem to have the upgrade; second, if you have the upgrade you can use CSS editing to add a tagline even when the theme doesn’t support it.

OK, thanks justpi. I don’t have an upgrade and I would expect every theme, free or not, to support a tagline! I just wonder if the theme will be tweaked or whether I’m doing (or not doing) something incredibly basic which is blocking the tagline showing. I really appreciate your help, in any case. I really like the simplicity of the theme but if I could get the tagline to show that would be even better. :-)

You’re welcome.
No, you’re not making any mistake, basic or not: Syntax doesn’t display the tagline, and there’s nothing you can do about it if you don’t have the upgrade.
PS Your expectations are too high! See an older post of mine (last updated March 2012):

Oh, thanks (once again!) justpi. I had no idea about the tagline situation, learned something there. I really appreciate your help. I guess I’ll close this topic off now.
