Tagline – visibility in Sketch theme
-
Hi there. I just swapped themes tonight to activate the SKETCH theme, and noticed that my Tagline was not pulling in (via the Identity piece on Customizer). It is supposed to say “Copywriter” after my name on the page. (Tho I do see it is coming up properly in my Browser tab.) Has anyone else had this experience? Is it an issue in Sketch theme, I wonder? Cheers!

hi,
I tried out Sketch and had the same issue as you.
The theme is deliberately hiding the tagline even after I ticked Display Site Title and Tagline.
I could get the theme to show the tagline by adding this CSS customization
.site-description {
display: block;
font-size: .8em;
}https://screenshots.firefox.com/94jbmUuA8Z2jeMtx/null
You can change the font-size to a size you prefer.

Hi eimilia,
The Sketch theme doesn’t display a tagline by default and you’ll notice the same behaviour on the theme demo site.
The CSS @kosiew provided can be added from My Sites > Customise > CSS:
.site-description { display: block; font-size: .8em; margin: 0.5em 0 0.5em 0; }I made one small change to bring it closer to the site title — the
0.5values add space above and below the tagline but you can tweak those numbers until you are happy.Come back to me if you need any further help.

@gemmacevans, thanks for catching “My Sites > Customise > CSS:” and “bring it closer to the site title”.
On relooking at the screenshot, I agree that it could confuse someone who does not know about Customise > CSS. -
Fantastic! Thank you @gemmacevans and @kosiew so much. I am not CSS-savvy, but pasted your code, and Tagline is successfully revealed! Much appreciated.
