Hi honeysilvas–
I just checked the following:
My 4 VIEWPOINTS posts: The Amendment Scam
Our Planet Earth
One man’s Opinion
Business has No Flag
I did the quick edit and update for tags on The Amendment Scam only.
Yet all of the Viewpoints posts have The Amendment Scam tags at the bottoms of their pages. I can’t figure out how to prevent that and allow for the creation of other tags relating to the remaining 3 viewpoints. I.e. supposing I enter another story into my STORIES category—the tags for the first one certainly wouldn’t apply to the second or the third.
Confusing, to say the least. (unless for some odd tech reason you are not seeing what I’m seeing, when you visit) Below are the URLs per Viewpoint, if you want to check. I appreciate your time given to this.http://martinjryansamerica.com/2014/07/30/the-amendment-scam/

OK, I think I understand what you mean by now.
If you go to:
http://martinjryansamerica.com/2014/07/30/the-amendment-scam/There are two sets of tags there. One above the comment box (above where it says “Leave a Reply” and the other way below the comment box at the very bottom of the page.
The set of tags above the comment box are your tags for this particular post.
It says:Categories: Viewpoints
Tagged as: 18th to 21st century, 30 round assault weapons, 300 million guns, 32000 yearly average dead, Founders against monarchy. The right to bear arms, Jim Brady and murdered American children, muskets, NRA, the 2nd Amendment rationaleThe set of tags at the very bottom of the page is your Tag Cloud.
These are not the tags for your post. These are your tags for your whole site. It says:TOP CATEGORIES: MY BOOK EXCERPTS/VIEWPOINTS/STORIES
TOP TAGS: FOUNDERS AGAINST MONARCHY. THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS/ 30 ROUND ASSAULT WEAPONS/ JIM BRADY AND MURDERED AMERICAN CHILDREN/ THE 2ND AMENDMENT RATIONALE/ 32000 YEARLY AVERAGE DEAD/ 18TH TO 21ST CENTURY/ 300 MILLION GUNS/ MUSKETS/ NRAIf you don’t want to show the Tag Cloud, you can disable it by going to Appearance > Widgets in your Dashboard, then editing the footer widget.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/If you go to these other posts, you will see that they all have the set of tags at the very bottom (the Tag Cloud), but they don’t have the set of tags above the comment (the set of tags for each post).

Ahah!
So simple when you know. Therefore, if I do not disable the Tag Cloud the tags from all my Viewpoint posts will pile up in a bunch on the bottom of each post page. And that’s okay, I suppose. I mean, if this is what other bloggers expect and allow. Or do they disable them?
Thanks. -
You’re welcome!
Some bloggers leave them while other blogger disable them. It’s really a matter of personal choice and it also depends on the subject matter of your blog.
I think for your blog, it is useful to leave them so that readers can easily see what other topics you have written about and they can easily discover more posts that will interest them.
-
Thanks again. I’ll leave them as they are.
New subject: My member ID: landmart.
The fellow who hosts my Front Page stuff on his server–some time ago, while guiding me in putting together another WordPress blog, he created that ID. People are always asking me who or what landmart is, and I haven’t the foggiest. Is it possible to change it to another? Like ryan.art or martin.art or martinart? (my profession was art/design). -
You’re welcome!
Here are the instructions to change your username.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/Please take note that if you change your username, you won’t be able to revert back to your old username and the old username will not be available to use again.
-
I’m not worried about reverting to the old, just about other mysteries like:
“URLs for other services such as Gravatar and IntenseDebate may be affected.”
Whatever. Don’t mess with mother nature. I’ll just leave it the way it is.
As usual, honeysilvas, thanks for your valuable time. I’m sure I’ll e back. -
You’re welcome!
If you just change your display name instead of your username, then your URLs won’t be affected.
Change Display Name (Nickname)
Access your User Profile: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=grofiles-editor
Change the value next to Display name publicly as under Basic Details
Click Update Profile. -
-
Your display name is the name that is displayed to the public. Your username is what you use to login with.

Hi honeysilvas–
If you look at the offering of themes–at Chronicle, which is mine–you’ll see several images (photos) displayed horizontally under the banners. I’m wondering if I can display some of my political cartoons in the same manner, with them remaining stationary, without having them show up in my banners, with me having the ability to replace them when I choose to. I also want to create a cartoon category where I can store them; displayed when the category is clicked. I assume as long as I don’t assign them to a post they will stay put. Correct? Thanks. -
Hi,
Do you mean the photos in the Chronicle demo that says “Raspberries on a Ledge”, “Bicycles in London”, “Making Cheese on a Summers Morn” and “A Temple in Bali”?
According to https://wordpress.com/themes/chronicle/
The 4 most recent posts tagged as featured content will be displayed in a prominent row of images on the homepage.
To enable the slider simply select the post tag you want to use and enter it on the Appearance → Customize → Featured Content page in the Featured Content area. Then, just tag up the posts you want to be flagged as special and Chronicle will add them automatically.
Hope that helps!
-
Hi–
Yes, I do mean “Raspberries on a Ledge”, etc. I’m still confused. So I understand: I gather you referred to them as “featured content.” Also referred to them as “4 most recent posts.” What I worry about is the term–most recent.
This suggests to me that the next most recent post will dislodge them from where I want them to stay put, and shove them aside or down, or whatever. Said another way: I’d like to have the ability to have a permanent display of images in that spot, to remove and replace as I choose. Also, I view these cartoons as images, not posts, which to me suggest text. Wouldn’t I load the images in Media–Library–then somehow select them for that display? Sorry I’m so dense. Thanks for help.
The “slider.” I don’t know what that means -
After all that, wasting your valuable time with my blah–reviewing it for the fourth time, my guess is I don’t have the option for permanence , and will have to use what Chronicle offers.
So when I put cartoons into media library–then Appearance → Customize → Featured Content page–how do I actually tag them for featured content? Thanks for endless patience. -
Hi,
This suggests to me that the next most recent post will dislodge them from where I want them to stay put, and shove them aside or down, or whatever. Said another way: I’d like to have the ability to have a permanent display of images in that spot, to remove and replace as I choose.
You should be able to use this for a permanent display of images you choose. Just make sure you choose exactly 4 posts to flag as featured content and those are the only posts that will show up there.
In case you add another post AND flag it as featured content, the first post will not be shown.
In case you add another post and do not flag it as featured content, the four posts you flagged as featured will remain.
Also, I view these cartoons as images, not posts, which to me suggest text. Wouldn’t I load the images in Media–Library–then somehow select them for that display?
Just create a new post by going to your Dashboard, then Posts > Add New.
You just need to add a featured image to it. On the right-hand side, the bottom box is Featured Menu, then click Set Featured Menu.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-imageThe post does not have to have any text in it if you don’t want.
To add an image to it, just click the Add Media button
or follow the steps here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/uploading-images/#add-images-to-a-post-or-pageThe “slider.” I don’t know what that means
I think the slider just refers to that horizontal area with the 4 images. The one that says “Raspberries on a Ledge”.

So when I put cartoons into media library–then Appearance → Customize → Featured Content page–how do I actually tag them for featured content?
Here’s how to setup Featured Content:
Go to Appearance → Customize → Featured Content.
Enter a tag name for the featured posts – make sure it’s unique and isn’t used anywhere else
Edit the posts that you want to display in the slider and give them the featured tag you have just selected. You can read this page for a clearer explanation on Featured Content as well as Featured Images:

Back again. I just loaded a bunch of pol. cartoons into my library. I want to create a new category: Political Cartoons. I don’t want them showing up in the moving banners like posts. I want viewers clicking the cartoon category to see them. They’ll see crops or small ones displayed in the slider of featured content under the banners. So do I create a page for this category?
Will a single page hold 7 or 8 images. If it will, how do I fold this page into my cartoon category? Thanks. -
Hi,
You just create a new category called Political Cartoons:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/As long as you don’t tag them as featured posts, they won’t appear in the moving banner. (I’m assuming you meant the big slider on the home page.)
Will a single page hold 7 or 8 images. If it will, how do I fold this page into my cartoon category?
A single post or page can hold as many images as you like. (For your purposes, you want to make a post though instead of a page.)
To assign a post to a category, please follow the instructions here:
