Tags and Meta Words
-
I can’t seem to get the tags module to show up in my post page. I would like to be able to check the tags I want for each post but I have to put them in manually. Why doesn’t my tags modue show up?
Also, I read a lot about adding the right meta words to my blog in order to be found by search engines. Does WordPress provide a way to create meta words? Is this the same thing as tags?
Thanks,
Gary

Why doesn’t my tags module show up?
We can assign Tags and Categories ONLY to posts. We cannot assign tags and Categories to Pages. The two are very different. Static Pages sit outside the blog structure and the other differences are explained here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
Tagging posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/tags/
adding the right meta words to my blog
The information you have received about key words in meat data is outdated. For over a year now Google has made it abundantly clear that they pay no heed to key words in meta data because too many people attempted to use them to game the algorithm.
In any event wordpress.com is a multiuser blogging platform ie. a shared environment wherein all blogs wearing the same theme are, in essence, using the same underlying template. The only editing to templates and themes is done by Staff as any edit they make affects all blogs wearing the same theme. We bloggers cannot access let alone edit that meta data. We can set up webmaster’s accounts and we can verify our blog ownership with all the big search engines. Please see here for instructions to do that. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

Thanks for the response. THe link you provided on “Assigning Tags with the Post Tags Module”, is the very thing I am trying to figure out. It says:
You can assign and/or add new tags to posts before you publish them using the Post Tags module to the bottom right of the post editor: -
The problem is that I can’t get this “Post Tags module” to show up on the bottom right of the post editor. Any idea why?
-
While editing the post, check your “Screen Options” on the top right corner and make sure “Post Tags” is checked.

Thanks and, yes, I have gone through that very process a number of times. Still, the module won’t show up. Does it only work with certain themes?

No. Tagging is not theme dependant. If it’s a post and not a page it can be tagged by Admin and by Editors.1. Are you the Admin of the blog?
2. Do you have a browser issue? Which browser and version of it are you using?
- You could have a browser issue so try changing your browser settings, refreshing the page, or clearing the browser cache and cookies – instructions for specific browsers.
- Note that when you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.
3. Is your Flash up to date?
- You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date.
- If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of flash.
4. How are you connecting to the internet and to wordpress.com?
