tags in private blog

  I have a blog with a Private setting. I have tagged most entries, but when I attempt to search specific tags within my own blog, nothing comes up. Why not? I would like to invite others to view the blog, but only if this feature works – I do not intend for the blog to be public . Will the tag (or category) feature work in a Private blog?

  The WP.com search features doesn’t search tags whether your blog is private or public.

  As raincoaster has said that’s not possible. The WordPress.com search engine indexes post, pages, and comments content (body text). Unless entered as text in those contents, categories, tags, blog name, post titles, and post/comment author names are not indexed. http://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpresscom-search/

  Forgive my ignorance, but I thought the point of tags was to facilitate searching? What is the point of them except to allow people to pull up articles related to tags? I’m still confused.

  Put the most popular tags Widget in the sidebar then visitors can click on a Tag and see the Posts that have the same Tag – or they can click on a Tag after they have read a Post and see other Posts with the same Tag
