Tags in Reader

I have noticed lately (as I didn’t always use the ‘follow tags’ in the reader as much) that there are more and more blogs I cannot ‘choose the block’ option with.
I guess it is straight forward and they pay for the ‘privilege’ of having it this way..?
I just get tired of seeing some like ‘thought catalogue’ ‘cbs +everywhere’ (to name only a few..) and many others posting an exorbitant amount of posts and having no way to bounce them out of my reader when reading a topic such as News, Entertainment etc….The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I also don’t know exactly what should be classified as ‘mature’, as thought catalog (and others) often post articles that I really don’t want to ‘see’ sort of ‘anytime’ like this particular post of thought catalog’s gruesome if you ask me, I guess most people become ‘desensitized’ and it is somewhat ‘normal’ for them. Far too many blogs post this sort of explicit ‘news’ (that I cannot ‘block’ from the reader..?) one would think quite blatantly grabbing readers attention
If nothing else, I would also like to ‘throw’ an ‘idea’ into the idea’s pool of sorts; which would be to have sensitive / explicit news stories have their own tag, to keep it from ‘mainstream’ wordpress reader, as I’d like to think wordpress has a little more ‘class’ than what is thrown about ‘haphazardly’ on the internet…. :/
Thanks in advance for some more info on what I can do about it.

Hi Sasha,
Sites like Thought Catalogue and CBS blogs are VIP WordPress.com sites. Currently, VIP sites don’t have the “Block this blog” option — our team is looking into enabling that for all sites, including VIP sites, but it’s not an easy fix so they don’t have a set timeline for that.
Thanks for all your feedback! I’ll also pass your thoughts about the Reader along to our team.

Thanks for your reply Rachel :)
So relieved that wp are looking into it further.. as it is quite frustrating for me as I’m using the Reader much more than I used to. Practically have swapped from Facebook scroll / read time :)
Then, perhaps wp could reconsider who they classify as ‘VIP’ in the meantime also, as some that don’t have the ‘block option’ do not seem too much like VIP’s to me (thought catalog being one in many..) that post such highly questionable and inflammatory posts..
Bordering on the type you’d see in a ‘people magazine’ or even more trashy mags.. I can understand a VIP such as CBS, their posts were simply ‘far too numerous’ but at least they are Reputable and Distinguished and their posts were not ‘trashy’ which, many with this VIP status are sadly not ‘Distinguished’ at all…..
So, thanks again and appreciate that you’ve passed this feedback along to your team :)

Thank for bringing this up afreestyler! This has been annoying me a lot lately too, I keep seeing articles from the same places keep popping up in my feed.
I use my feed to try and find new and interesting blogs about topics of my interest, and when these content creators keep popping up its taking up space and taking the spotlight away from what WordPress is about, independent creators making interesting unique posts and content.
It seems really strange that publishers like CBS are allowed to post on WordPress at all in my opinion since they already have a large audience and it fells like they are just spamming every platform as much as possible.
Glad to know it is being investigated and hopefully fixed soon!
