Tags in Titan theme
-
Hi,
In the Titan theme, the “Tag Cloud” widget links to the list of posts within the blog that are tagged with same tag, which is fine. But the Tag icon and the list of tags that appear on the top left of each post page, next to their title, link to WordPress’ global taglist, which is useless and disruptive. Is there any way I can limit this tag function to my own blog, without disabling search engine visibility in my Privacy settings?
Thanks for your help. -

That’s how all wp.com blogs work. No, you can’t limit this tag function to your own blog without disabling search engine visibility, except if you switch to iNove or Monochrome. And it’s not “useless and disruptive”: it helps visitors find other related posts, and it improves your standing because of the links from the wp.com global pages.

The only theme where at wordpress.com that we have the theme option of suppressing the display of categories and/or tags on is the INove theme.

Thanks for your help. In this case I find it disruptive because it’s right next to the title, but has nothing to do with the blog. Links to general WordPress tags should be elsewhere than there.
It is also misleading that sometimes (ie with the Cloud) it’s about tags within the blog and others about general WordPress tags. It could help readers if a distinction was made, so they know before clicking.
With the categories and the search box, they know they are searching within the blog. With tags it’s not the case.
Thanks again. -
Have you read this?
The Global Tag Listings at WordPress.com aggregate all published posts attached to any particular tag or category, and display our most popular topics.
The tags and categories links that appearance at the top or bottom or on the side of posts, depending on the theme all direct to the global tag pages. The Categories links and Tag links found in the widgets all direct only to content within the blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/global-tags/

Thanks! Yes I had read it but had no way of knowing which Tag Lists were global or local before implementing tags. Now I know (unfortunately). I doubt that readers can instinctively know the difference, however, and realize that the widget ones are local and the other ones global (in my case right next to the title of the posts)… a little confusing IMO and unfortunately not customizable.
