Tags NOT saving

Everytime I try to add a new tag/category, it will “save” forever. It never adds the new tag/category word. Any thoughts? Is it wordpress? Do I have too many categories?

What do you mean by everytime? Just started today? How many categories do you already have? More details would help.
You may want to do a force refresh on that page (for a PC it’s CTRL and then F5) or clear your browser’s cache just to get a clean start and try again.

Are you using the tags on your posts? You can’t just type in a tag to use later, you have to assign it to a post right away.

Actually you can add a tag/category even before you write a post. Either up in the Write > Write Post > Add Category sidebar or on the Manage > Categories > Add New box.
I used this method to set up quite a few for each family member on a private blog. -
Really? That has routinely failed for me. I must be special.
But if you’re using the Write box, how do you save it without publishing a post? Won’t anything you click in the sidebars just get wiped because you didn’t save anything?

Hmmm maybe I’m the special one then. I add a new category in the write post under the blue categories header, then it shows up below with a yellow highlight for a few seconds (like any other update on wordpress) and it has a check mark, then i go over to the Manage > Categories in the dashboard and viola there is the category i just made. I am running FireFox 2.0.0.2 on Win XP.

I have the same experience as ryannjenn, and i’m using FF 2.0.0.2 (albeit on a Mac). To answer Raincoaster, i don’t know if you have to save the post in order to have it work correctly, because i always have.

Worked for me. Added in a category while writing a post and it showed right up on the manage -> Categories page.
Try doing a forced reload of the page, CTRL-F5 on a PC, to see if it shows.

I would say it’s been happening for the past 3 days. If I try to add a new tag to a post I’m working on, it shows it’s being saved (hourglass, etc.) but it will literally be in the process for 30 minutes. It never times out or saves. It’s just in process the whole time. Obviously, it lets me click my old tags. I’d say I have
I’ve tried saving and/or publishing, then going back to edit it and add a new tag, but the same thing happens.
FWIW, I’m on a mac.
OH! But I just tried going to Manage–Categories–Add New! That worked. That’s a few more clicks, but I can do it that way, too! Thanks so much!
