Tags not working
-
I am very new to the blogging world but I am trying to find ways to connect with others. I would assume I do this through tags – however when I add tags to my blogs they don’t seem to be coming up in searches etc. I am only adding 5 to 7 tags per blog and they are relevant to the blog.
In my first blog I tagged #Melbourne and that seems to have worked but no other tags have. I am separating them with comma’s and have adjusted my settings to be public and come up in search engines but nothing seems to be working.
Any help with this would be much appreciated as I’m trying to learn as much as I can.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Tags don’t really connect you to other people. I have 19 blogs here and it has literally been YEARS since I saw a referral on any one of them from a tag. Years.
I suggest you do a search of the forum for terms like “community” and “readers” and “hits” and follow some of those suggestions.

My tags aren’t working, even in WordPress. Even if I use only one tag such as Baby Boomer, my post never shows up when I type that into the Word Press search. It used to show up via the Search immediately after I would publish with a tag, but it stopped working about three weeks ago.
I don’t care about outside searches picking me up, but I don’t understand why the Tags stopped working within the WordPress community. Does my theme selection have a bug??

Thank you raincoaster.
Even if tags don’t help me connect with others, I would still like them to work as it is relevant to my blog. I have been searching endlessly for information on tags and everything I am doing seems to be correct but out of all my blogs only one tag #Melbourne has shown up.
Help!

Give me a link to a specific post and tell me which tags you have attempted to add to it.
Sammydetroit, it doesn’t look like your site is hosted here or if it is, it may have been set as Mature, which takes it off the tag pages.

Hi – thanks for your help. My website is a WordPress website. I paid for the option to drop “wordpress” in the URL so my website is http://www.bemuzin.com. (Or http://www.bemuzin.wordpress.com will default to that site).
Tags were originally working, and I never set my site as Mature (which it is NOT). Here are two posts with tags I set that didn’t work:
http://Www.bemuzin.com/2014/06/25/the-other-grandparents Tags for that are “baby boomer”, “family”, and “musings”
http://Www.bemuzin.com/2014/06/17/tuesday-tangles Tag for that was “baby boomer”

This was my first post with 8 tags in it but only #Melbourne worked
In my second post – none of the tags worked.
Three part kids series – healthy & nourishing recipes (that tastes yum)
Thanks raincoaster

Sammydetroit, your site WAS set as mature, now it is not, so I would assume that solves the problem.
yournannynetwork: brand new blogs are generally not included in the tag system for awhile. I am unsure how long. It’s an anti-spam measure. I would expect that within a couple of weeks everything will work normally.
I can see your first post in the Richmond tag https://www.google.ca/search?q=babyccino+site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fen.wordpress.com%2Ftag%2Frichmond%2F&oq=babyccino+site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fen.wordpress.com%2Ftag%2Frichmond%2F&aqs=chrome..69i57.5807j0j4&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8#q=babyccino+site:wordpress.com%2Ftag%2Frichmond%2F
You will also need to stop using the name of your blog as a tag. Staff have in the past blocked blogs who do that from the tag system.

Raincoaster – thank you SO much for promptly resolving my problem.
At age 63, I’m still fooling myself that I’m a 30-year-old hottie so the last thing I want to be labelled is “mature”. Ha!
Enjoy your weekend. Sammy

Hi again. I published my first post since you deleted the “mature” setting, and my tags are STILL not working. I used only two tags, and my post doesn’t appear when I search using either tag line.
What else could cause this problem? I don’t see anything I can do to resolve a tag problem.
The post is http://bemuzin.com/2014/06/30/spring-blooming-bike-ride
Thank you again for helping me! Sammy D

Pic forgot to say the tags I used for the post in above message are Baby Boomer and Family.

I am repeating my request for help because my tags are NOT working. One of your helpers corrected my settings by deleting the Mature setting, but that did not resolve the problem of not showing up in a search by the tags I am setting.
You can look at any of my recent posts; they all have tags and none are working.
Thank you. Sammy at http://bemuzin.com
