tags on wordpress emails?

  • Unknown's avatar

I send emails via wordpress, but lately I am finding my emails tagged with a big dialogue box at the bottom containg words and pictures from the home page of my blog.

If I wanted this to happen, I would add them myself, but since I wish the email to contain my message only and my url only – Is there anyway to stop wordpress hijacking my emails with wordpress tags? (even if they are my own)?

    Thx

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi marklargent,

Would you be able to make a screenshot of the dialogue box and upload it to the Media Library? Once I know exactly what you are referring to, I’ll be happy to take a closer look :)

    Hi Gemma

    Uploaded for you 🙂 Thanks

  • Hi there,

What exactly do you mean you send emails via WordPress? WordPress.com does not offer any email inbox feature, and there is no way to send an email via WordPress.com.

Your screen shot in https://marklargent.files.wordpress.com/2019/02/screen-shot.png also does not clarify what you are speaking of. On which emails exactly is that appearing?

    Hi

First, I was asked for a screenshot of the box – that was it – and it isn’t a box I added myself. I don’t want it on there.

Second, I’m no tech expect, but I can’t send emails that include my domain/blog address unless I pay wordpress to do so. I pay a subscription to link my domain address in the email address (I’m assuming that’s how it works – since I pay annually for domain mapping)

So one way or another, contrary to your statement, my emails do go via wordpress who redirect them to my gmail. Don’t ask me how that works precisely, but I pay wordpress for the privilege.

So somehow, there is a way that ‘words and pictures’ from the blog homepage end up tagged to the bottom of my emails – which emails? every email that contains a hyperlink with my email addresses – and by adding a hyperlink, I am not adding pictures or text but the URL in isolation – and yet the words and pictures end up tagged to the email…

hence my query – why are they being added? and NOT by me – and since its my email.. I’d like to know why these tags are being added and how to prevent it :-)
