Taille de la bannière réduite ?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I’ve just created my new blog “Otra Vista”,

I wanted to use the banner from Baskerville theme adding the title “Otra Vista” framed by two catch phrases (“Un laboratoire d’idées…” and “… Réfléchir pour mieux panser”).

I’ve uploaded, on the top of my blog, the banner by default from the Baskerville theme modified by me (but I didn’t changed the size (1440×300)) and now it is cut (in 1440×200). I don’t succeed in finding again the default appearance, with the banner in the good size… I don’t know why the parameters has been changed, and I don’t know what I should do to get my banner in the correct size on my blog with the text I’ve written on it.

Can you help me please ?

    Thank you very much

    NEKL

No help… Not even a single answer… Is it amazing ?

Sorry your question fell through the cracks. With hundreds of new posts in the forums on a daily basis, it can sometimes happen.

Your thread has been tagged for Staff assistance. As they do have a number of threads noted for their attention, please be patient until they reply.

I do note one thing on the Baskerville Theme Showcase page, https://wordpress.com/themes/baskerville/

Custom Header dimensions are fluid, displayed at varying widths and heights, depending on the screen size.

Thank you very much, JustJennifer… I thought my topic would never receive a single answer. I was desperate.

I some times ago read someone who answered for a similar case “You have three choices : use another theme, accept yours with its defaults or pay a premium subscription (which allows you to access the CSS code and if you have any knowledge in it, you’ll can resolve your problem”

I hope the help I will receive is not that kind of “help”…

My screen size is big enough and the baneer, before I modified it to include the title of my blog, has had the good size… I never changed the size… It automatically changed and it trimmed my banner…

  • Unknown's avatar

FWIW- The Baskerville demo header image itself is 1440 pixels wide by 300 pixels high. On my monitor at 1280×1024 pixels, the header dynamically resizes to 1280 pixels wide x 266 pixels high.

If you uploaded your site’s customized header image at exactly the same dimensions as the original image (1440×300 pixels), it seems like it should also dynamically resize to 1280×266 pixels, but it does look shorter to me.

So let’s wait until Staff reply.

Hm, also wondering if choosing not to display the overlying text changes something.

  • Unknown's avatar

And it appears that is exactly the issue.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Yes but…

First I can’t let text appearing on my banner added to what I wrote on it

Second, if I take off the title and subtitle in the parameters, the title of the blog won’t appear when someone put my blog in his bookmarks (while I need it to appear, this is very important)

Third, the baneer is a little bit more shown, but is still trimmed.

So I am afraid that is not the solution…

And I chose a specific font I found beautiful for my blog… I don’t want a standard one…. The WordPress blogs are supposed to be customizable… If we cannot even use the font we want for our baneers, we don’t personalize the visual identity of our blogs…

  • Unknown's avatar

Anyway, I don’t want to bother you, this very kind of you to try to help me. I know that is such a difficult issue… Thank you very much, then, for having trying to help me, JustJennifer.

Don’t hesitate, if you find ideas to tell me.

  • Unknown's avatar

You are welcome. I’m sorry I don’t have another solution for you other than to keep the original Baskerville image header with the Title and tag line visible. That’s the only way I know to do this.

However, you don’t have to use the theme’s default font. Perhaps you can find one you like in the Fonts section of the Customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ Just note that changing a heading font will also change it for the other headings like on posts and sidebar widgets.

    Best wishes

Thank you very much, JustJennifer… So I will wait for the technical staff.

Yes, I know for the fonts and I still tried your way, but with that beautiful font, the other headings are pretty unreadable, that is why I’ve decided to make my own baneer from the original one.

Thanks again, and all the best !

  • Hi @nicoelie, I have a tricky idea that just might work.

    1) Go to My Site > Customize

    2) Please set your title and tagline; you’ll need these :)

    3) Make sure to not display the title and tagline (this is a checkbox.)

    4) Download this big blank PNG and set it as your “logo” https://cloudup.com/ctOXBE0hkAY

That should give you the extra height you’d like.

Of course, getting a plan that supports CSS really would be the better way to go, but hopefully this will help.
