take my site to a .com through you

  I am trying to find a way to put my site on .wordpress.com to a .com . I need to know how to transfer it, and if it will still be accessed the same way or if it is more difficult than it is now? I am trying to make this more easily accessible to a person to change weekly.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  You don’t need to transfer anything. Adding a custom domain to your site is more like putting a different licence plate on your car. The site doesn’t move. It just gets a different identifier.

  To add a custom domain, go to My Site ->Domains and click Add. Follow the steps on the screen. More information here:

  Register a New Domain

  After doing this your WordPress.com address will also still work, so you won’t lose any old traffic to that address, and you’ll still see that address in your dashboard, but visitors to your site will see it appearing at the custom domain instead. You’ll still update it in exactly the same way as before.

  This did not go well at all….I did this to get away from my site that was made with dreamweaver,,,,instead of going to my site at wordpress that I made at wordpress which is the one I wanted to be seen…..the silly thing is now directed toward my old site which was made with dreamweaver and hosted at GoDaddy….i hope I can get my money back…THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANTED….AT ALL

  Hi @michellebalante, sorry for the frustration.

  When you make that change, it will take your computer and internet connection a few hours to forget the old location.

  I can see your new site at http://oldmarcolodge.com/ now. Can you see it there now?

  Thank you supernovia…..Yes it is finally the site I had worked on at wordpress…Thank you for you input…I have a few more changes to get done and it will be right..
