Take off screen darkening

How do you take off the screen darkening overlay on the main front image?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there – this CSS would remove the overlay:
/* Remove header overlay */ body:not(.no-header-image) .custom-header-image::before, .lodestar-front-page .custom-header-image::before { background: none; }Custom CSS is available with the Premium or Business plans.

Hello @counselorsthatcare,
In the Style Mode, go to the “Index Overlay” section and change the Color there. It will be using ‘RGBA’ and if you change the 4th value to “0” it will remove opacity and should make your image show as uploaded.
Your website appears as: background: rgba(0,0,0,.5);
You should change it to background: rgba(0,0,0,0);
I hope to get to fix it and if not I am here to help.

Kayode – could you explain what you’re referring to with “Style Mode”? I don’t think that’s something available on WordPress.com.

Glad that did the trick! Just as a heads-up, now that your site has a Premium/Business plan, you’re entitled to live-chat and email support, accessible here:
https://wordpress.com/help/contact
You’re welcome to still post in these forums, but those other support avenues may be faster, and you’ll always get a staff reply.

Hi kathrynwp,
Style mode lets you have access to Inspect and live-edit the HTML and CSS of a page using the Chrome DevTools Elements panel.
-
Making a modifies it in a browser inspector changes it only for the person who is using the inspector; it’s not a way to make a permanent change to a site. If you’d like to help folks here with custom CSS for their WordPress.com sites, you’re very welcome to help , but for clarity, please do provide the CSS code that someone can copy into their Custom CSS panel at that point. Thanks!
