Take sponsored blog posts off the timelines!
-
There is a whole WordPress sponsored post on my timeline and I really don’t want that! I don’t want whole advertising posts on my timeline that I have no control over and that I can’t remove. This aggressive marketing and pressuring to get a paid plan is frustrating. As if we didn’t already have enough frustrations to deal with this past year… I was going to upgrade my plan in the not too distant future to a paid one because picture space is running low on my blog but now I’m thinking, with such aggressive marketing, maybe I should just look for a different platform? Place ads on the sidelines or underneath my posts but don’t contaminate my timeline by placing whole blog posts in between my own posts. I really hate this, WordPress!’

Hi there, Native Sponsored Posts are being tested. You can learn about this in this guide https://wordpress.com/support/native-sponsored-posts/
Upgrading to any paid plan removes all ads from your site, including this new ad initiative.

You find all info regarding Native Sponsored Posts at https://wordpress.com/support/native-sponsored-posts/.
If you have a free WordPress.com site, you can remove the Sponsored Posts (and our other advertising) by upgrading to any paid WordPress.com plan. -

Is there any way this policy can be turned back? Such aggressive marketing, disrupting the timeline of my blog, is hardly a good way to treat a long time customer (I’ve been actively blogging on my little blog on WP for about 6,5 years now).

We run ads on free sites to keep them free: https://wordpress.com/support/no-ads/
To remove ads, simply purchase any paid plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

I’m getting extremely frustrated now, it doesn’t seem like anyone is taking my complaint seriously!!
As I said in my initial post, it’s fine to have ads at the bottom of posts or on the sides but why suddenly now a sponsored post in the middle of my timeline? That is a new feature, it interferes with the content of my blog and I hate it!
Yes, I can get a paid plan but you are pressuring me to do so with this new sponsored post feature and that is just plain agressive marketing and very off-putting. I care very much about my little blog and this sponsored post bull in the middle of my blog timeline is distressing to me. At least give me a choice on where I’d like ads to show on my free site! Or give me a huge discount on a paid plan… Or maybe I should just move my blog elsewhere if you can’t take your customers seriously.

Hi bookesther, I get it. We need to cover our costs too, though. Ads help pay for hosting, support, security, maintenance, development, HR to manage all of this, marketing, and so on. People use a lot of ad blockers these days, so we’re experimenting with other means of ad revenue.
Given that this is a test, we will pass your feedback along, but can’t guarantee these will go away on free sites.
If you don’t want to buy a plan but want your site ad-free, another option is to go ahead and get hosting elsewhere and install your own free copy of WordPress there. It usually costs about as much as our personal plan (maybe a bit more) but you will have all of the flexibility of the free software, and no ads unless you put them there. The caveat is you’ll also need to take care of maintenance and support.

Thank you for your more elaborate response, I really appreciate that!
Yes, please pass my feedback along to the test team! I know from a few other WordPress users that I am not alone in this frustration.
Thanks for the options given, I will consider them.
