Hi I’d like to set up a new domain through my shopify store but the doamin is taken by an inactive store on this site. Is there anyway to buy that domain back at all?

I own a natural self care shop and I’m currently rebranding under The Hive Apothecary and wanted to purchase that domain name.

I would contact the owner directly but there is no contact info to be found on that account and it says the last time it was updated was May of 2020.

That site is not hosted here at WordPress.com nor is the domain registered through us, so there’s not much we can do here. But I can point you in the right direction.
That domain is registered through Google and is set to expire 2022-05-20. If the domain name registration is not renewed, then it becomes available to the public to be repurchased. You can look up that same information here:

It looks like the owner of that domain elected to have privacy set so there’s no contact information that can be gained from there.
A quick Google search found this Network Solutions article on what options you have, although it looks like you may need to choose a different domain name for your website.
