Taking a blog offline for maintenance
-
As title, is there any way to take my blog ‘offline’ for maintenance? So I can still work on it behind the scenes but everyone just sees a static front page while the work is going on? The reason for this is a design overhaul from standard theme to premium.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you wish you can create a page with a maintenance announcement on it and then designate it temporarily as a static front page while you work on the blog. if you do that you will also have to create a page for posts to appear on and then designate the two here > Settings > Reading http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ Then when you done, you can change the settings back and delete the static page or make it private. Alternatively you could make the whole blog visibility “private”. I would not do either one. I would simply carry on with my work.
