how do I take the “login” off of my wordpress blog site? It allows the general public access to my work/edditing in wordpress.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s not correct. The Meta widget only allows other WordPress.com members to login to wordpress.com. It does not provide access to your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/meta-widget/

All themes here will have a default display that appears to contain a sample set of widgets in the sidebar and/or footer when you have not yet added any of your own. Go to Appearance > Widgets and add the widgets you desire, configure them, save and close them and the default display will disappear.

If you google randall southwest plans, and look for the one with wordpress, it takes you to my blog site and if you click on the menu bar it opens a login and when you click on that it opens my wordpress login so that anyone can log in and mess with my stuff. Hopefully I’m explaining this correctly. So my objective is to take the “login” off of my site.

You are misunderstanding the situation. Of course that happens. It happens because you are logged into WordPress.com and you have no cleared your browser cache and cookies. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/ Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies and then go to that meta widget on any WordPress.com blog and see what happens when you are not logged in and the cookie has been removed. You will be prompted to log in, and when you do you will be on the dashboard of your own blog and not anyone’s else’s blog.

Also note that there will be autofilled information in a contact form or a comment box and that your information is visible only to you when you are logged in and have not cleared your browser cache and cookies. No one else can see it. When someone makes a comment on your blog or completes a contact form, unless they have cleared their cookies, WordPress.com will recognize them and complete the details for them. No one else will be able to view those details in comment boxes or in contact forms. The next person who comments will see blank fields. Commenters will not see each others details.

Lastly, note that the Admin [edit] link is only for your convenience and the convenience of your Editors, if you have any. And only you and your editors can see it and use it while you are logged in to WordPress.com.
