taking over another account's expiring domain

    Does anyone know how to take over an expiring domain that was owned by someone who is now deceased? I work for an organization that would like to take over a former members’ website to preserve the information, but we cannot figure out how to do so. Any tips?! Thanks!

    The link that @justjennifer provided has all the information you need to start the process of gaining access to the deceased member’s site.

    We’ll be able to transfer ownership of the WordPress.com account to you if you could please mail us the following:

    * A copy of the deceased user’s death certificate.

    * A power of attorney or legal document stating your authority to act on behalf of the deceased, or a signed, notarized statement including:

    – Your first and last name
    – Your current contact information
    – Your email address
    – Your relationship to the deceased user
    – The action you’re requesting (e.g., “Please transfer ownership of the account.”)
