Taking Over for a struggling business

Hello, I am trying to update a webpage for my new clients. Their wordpress is out of date, and every single operation tells me that jetpack is out of date. The update never seems to work, leaving it all inoperable. Every link on the site takes one to a ‘404’ page. The export feature won’t work for me to back up the site so that I can update without fear of data loss. Is there any guidance for a wordpress site that is so out of date?

Wow, sounds like a tricky one for sure. Would you please ask this in the WordPress.org forums, since this is a self hosted site. WordPress.com sites are updated automatically, so you will get better help over there where there probably is someone who has experienced the same problem before. Here is a link to the forum:
