Talk Talk 'No Data Received' error

Whoever is out there of the “happiness”squad.
Please understand we are not on Talk Talk and never have been.
Unless you tell us Talk Talk is handling ALL UK WordPress traffic, you have a much bigger problem than you realize. So is all UK WordPress traffic routed by Talk Talk?
A simple yes / no will suffice.Thank you

Hi thoughtfullyprepping – I have started a new thread clarifiyng this is not a talktalkproblem. you might want to add to it.

Seven or eight hours back I posted a series of links to explain what’s going on. I refer you to them. PLEASE READ THEM!!!
http://wordpress.org/plugins/botnet-attack-blocker/
It would appear the the .org bloggers are better off than we .coms.
-
It appears users on Opal Telecom may also be affected by this issue.
Please do not create new threads, as we are already well aware of the issue. Instead, please keep this thread updated, as other threads will be closed.
The last time this happened, it was due to WordPress.com being on a list provided to UK ISPs by a third party. We are not sure at this time if this is the root of the issue or not.
-
jackiedana, it’s bloody good to know that someone is noting what’s going on in this forum!
So easy to keep us from raging – just talk to us.
But surely at this point there’s absolutely nothing to be gained by guessing where the problem lies?: we know what it is, but we don’t need to think we know where it originated.
What we look forward to is being told YOU know how to fix it.
:-) -
jackiedana – thank you for actually talking to us. BUT for a company of your size being unable to sort out a problem of this importance to its customers after 5 days is totally unacceptable. You sound like IT beginners!
“We are not sure at this time if this is the root of the issue or not.” WHY NOT????????
-
Oh, good grief!
I give up.
There are people who must actively WANT not to be informed.
I’ll leave you to your refusal to check the facts available, then, and go away from this forum. -
Just adding info. I live in the UK
Erratic, random ‘no data received’ messages since two days.
My server is aol broadband and I use google chrome browser.
Same thing happened a few months ago.
Managed to post earlier today and could answer a few comments, but tonight I can’t get from my dashboard to the homepage. So can’t answer comments or link to other blogs.I hope a less disruptive entertainment can be found for the gremlin ♥
-
Interesting – I just connected from this forum page to my homepage and it worked. Beats me.

To MargaretRoseStringer:
If my blog has been affected by the attack you mention, would that be indicated by the fact that, while I’m having no problems accessing my site, others trying to access it are? Or are they just having a problem with their PCs?Only one person has reported to me that they can’t access my site but I notice my Stats have dropped dramatically in the last few weeks and am wondering whether there are many who can’t access it?

To mountaincoward:
This possibility began with a comment I left. It has been a little misconstrued.
The botnet has been formed by self hosted blogs. WordPress hosted blogs, like yours, would not be part of it. But, it is possible that the botnet is being used to block accss to one our more WP servers or proxy servers en-route. It is also possible that some security certificates have become invalid.
You are correct in thinking that, whilst you have access to your site, others may not. It is one of the symptoms. For example I cannot view many sites that are not suffering any problems themselves.
I can work normally and view all sites by using mobile broadband and assume that this is because that service routes differently throught the system.
On a previous occasion we were told it was because of a faulty blacklisting by the Internet Watch Foundation.
The lack of information from WP is the most worrying factor.

@mountaincoward
What he said.
Very happy to see that there don’t seem to be any more totally mindless posts in this thread indicating only that their writers haven’t bothered to look for anything on offer here by way of info. -
@grahamatlinc-That link is entirely irrelevant and will not help WordPress.com users resolve their current issue with UK ISPs. WordPress.com is an Automattic creation. They are entirely separate entities.
This thread is the correct place to post.

TalkTalk are still telling me its a IWF block.
@mountaincoward – your links are useful but not confirmation especially as most of it applies to self-hostingmust be a mammoth problem for WordPress to sort as in the last half hour a lot of porno links have been posted in the support forum!
-
The WordPress Foundation and Automaticc are not entirely seperate entities. The Foundation was given the WordPress Trademark by Automaticc in 2010. The Foundation took up a “preserve and protect” role.
From bottom of page:-
http://wordpressfoundation.org/news/
It is correct that information should be posted on this thread, but there is no harm in letting the Foundation know that the reputation of the WP trademark is at risk.
Further, it is not just an issue with UK ISP’s

If this issue is related to Opal Telecom, might I suggest a re-naming of this thread to clarify.
At the moment it is still reading as a “TalkTalk issue”, whereas Opal are a global network supplier, so it is possible that TalkTalk is just one of their clients, hence why people other than TalkTalk customers are being affected.
For example, it appears the Co-op in the UK use Opal as their network, and there is at least one post in this thread from an Co-op user. Therefore, a clarification would help provide a better understanding of the problem, and it might help WP users help you, as they could as their specific ISP if they use Opal as their network / swtiching supplier.
For my part, I can confirm that I’m a TalkTalk user in the UK (and Opal manage the local exchange for both TalkTalk’s broadband and landline service). I’ve been experiencing these issues for the last 72 hours, and the over the last 24, they have become progressively worse withmore frequent disconnects, which are getting progressively longer. At the start of things the problem would seem to clear of its own volition after 2-3 mintes, now I’m having to go away and wait for 5-10 mins and a time.

I am with TalkTalk if they are implicated and I am in Yorkshire UK. I have had problems for days but I usually find they sort themselves out over time (hours). This one hasn’t. I’m not a ‘techy’ so am in the dark.
I can log in but can’t access my dashboard. It’s annoying as my next post is ready to go. I can also look at my blog as a ordinary viewer would, it all comes up ok.
It is the length of time that this has been going on that puzzles me.
