Talking about my company on wordpress

I have been blogging about the appliance industry without mentioning anything about my company within the blog. I was told that you are not allowed and will be banned from wordpress if there is any specific mention of my website. Am I getting the right information. What if I want to talk about a particular product that we carry and mention our website? Example: Check out http://www.mywebsite.com for pricing, etc.

You do not have the correct information. The correct information is that unless you yourself produced a product, you are not allowed to use WordPress.com to sell it.
“Check out http://www.mywebsite.com for pricing” would definitely be out of bounds, however. If it’s something you’re allowed to sell on WordPress.com, like your own book or art or fashion, you can put the price here. If it’s something you’re reselling that a different person manufactured, you’re not allowed to sell it here OR drive people off WP.com to order a specific product.
You have always been able to have a link to your external website in your sidebar and now with Custom Menus you can even link to it in a header tab. If, however, in the opinion of staff your blog here exists primarily to drive people to your off-WP.com site, it is in violation of the terms of service and will be deleted.
