Is the error in regard to attempting to purchase an upgraded plan? You may need to contact the billing team rather than a member of staff here. I don’t see a modlook tag on this thread though so I have added one now. Please be patient and a member of staff will respond.

Hi folks! @themagicrobot is correct; @marywadkins can you contact the billing team directly through the link in the message, or one in your dashboard? It doesn’t look like you’ve contacted them yet.
Once you’ve done that (once is best) typically they’ll be able to review the case within the business day. Thank you in advance for getting in touch with them!

Our Billing Support team handles inquiries about this. You can reach out to them for assistance with this using the link in your dashboard that says: “Purchases are currently disabled. Please contact us to re-enable purchases.”
You can also send an email directly to billingsupport@wordpress.com if you prefer that.
