TD Editor Theme Modifications

  • Unknown's avatar

I have purchased the TD Editor theme and I would like to center the header graphic and change the opacity of the text box in the slider images, as it is too dark. Is there any way to modify these two things without upgrading to WP Premium? If I do upgrade to Premium, will these changes be available to make within the WP content editor or within CSS only?

Secondary issues to finishing my site: A.) I need specific help on incorporating a YouTube iFrame type of plugin to my “Videos” page on my site with TD Editor theme. B.) I need to know how to incorporate a scheduling calendar on my “Schedule” page. C.) I need to know the best way to incorporate SEO on my WordPress.com hosted site.

    Thank you!

    Hi there!

If I do upgrade to Premium, will these changes be available to make within the WP content editor or within CSS only?

These will be CSS adjustments. We can help with those, if you need a hand. In fact, we have a forum dedicated to CSS:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

A.) I need specific help on incorporating a YouTube iFrame type of plugin to my “Videos” page on my site with TD Editor theme.

Plugins aren’t allowed on WordPress.com sites. However, you can easily add YouTube videos into your pages/posts with the tools we already offer.

    Instructions for embedding from YouTube:

B.) I need to know how to incorporate a scheduling calendar on my “Schedule” page.

You can embed a Google Calendar, if you would like:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/google-calendar/

Or add a contact form, so people can request appointments:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

C.) I need to know the best way to incorporate SEO on my WordPress.com hosted site.

Here is information about SEO here at WordPress.com. It’s an excellent article, and very informative about what we already do, and what you can do to increase traffic:

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

This helps greatly! Thank you! I’ll reference the answers for A, B and C as I start incorporating them. I’d like to tackle the CSS modifications right away:

1.) Header: I would like to add a center align tag to the header image, so that it will always align the image to the center of the header and also reduce the vertical padding around the image by 50%.
2.) Slider: I would like to drop the opacity of the shaded text box within the slider images by 50%.
3.) Widgets: I would like to adjust the two homepage widgets to each take up 50% of the screen width instead of the Text widget taking up 70% and Recent Posts taking up 30%.

Last question: In the TD editor theme, is there a way to display my Recent Posts widget with the first sentence of the blog post in addition to the date and the title that is currently displayed?

Let me know if you need further information to make these changes.

    Thanks Robyn!

By “drop the opacity” I mean, “make it more transparent”. I know the terminology with opacity can be tricky. :-)

    Hello!

Because your design-modification requests are a bit extensive, I’m concerned about giving you CSS adjustments that will adversely impact your mobile layout.

My suggestion is to directly connect with the theme’s developers. This is something you can do as you have bought this premium theme.

Here is the link to contact them:
    http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/tdeditor

You’d be best off connecting with the folks who know the ins-and-outs of the theme’s code at this point!

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

    Hi Robyn-
I got in touch with the theme’s developer about making some minor CSS changes for me to the TD Editor theme. And his response was as follows.

“You need to have a CSS option. Without this option you cannot modify theme’s css.

Custom CSS is part of Custom Design, which is a feature of the WordPress.com Premium and WordPress.com Business plans.”

The developer DID, however, give me the CSS modifications to make some of the edits I need to make. Is there any way you and your staff could assist me in making minor edits to the CSS for my theme if I provide you with the CSS style edits? Thanks in advance.

    Howdy!

If the theme designer gave you the CSS you’ll need, all that’s left to set your blog up with the Premium plan here:

    https://wordpress.com/plans

Once that’s setup, copy and paste the CSS they gave you into your site’s CSS editor:

    Editing CSS

But not even staff can add custom CSS to your site without the Premium or Business plan in place.

    Best,

    -Alex G.
