  I am a teacher of Foundations of Multi Media at a University. I want to have my students do a basic website on WordPress and be able to insert video. Can we have access to video in a Free template?

  You can embed videos hosted elsewhere onto a free WordPress.com site. To host the video directly on your site would require a paid Premium plan or above.
