Team Members or Subscribers

I noticed suddenly that I had 41 ‘Team Members’ under People in my WordPress site. Baffled because I don’t have any other team but me, I clicked on it. All of the people listed here have the word ‘Subscriber’ by their name. So how did these people get into the Team Members area? Are they Team Member’s or Subscribers?

Subscribers are a WordPress.org role that basically means they created an account on your site. They show on the Team page in WordPress.com because they have an account. That means you have registration for your site enabled.
They’re not following your site via the Jetpack plugin and do not get posts by email unless they subscribed to that separately. Note details about Jetpack subscriptions here: https://jetpack.com/support/subscriptions/
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are a little separate, and that can be confusing.
You’ll want to use the forums at https://wordpress.org/support/ for any support on managing most features of your site, like enabling or disabling user registration.
