'Team' Sign up Subscribers, who are they and how are they subscribing to my site?
-
Hi, I am really confused by how many sign-ups have subscribed to my site <nvaikikai.org> more than 500 in just the last few days. I have my WP site using Whoopra and I am getting hit after hit of sign ups and I have no idea where they come from or how they sign up for my site. Any explaination you can give me would help a lot. Each one according to the Whoopra tracking has a gmail account which exactly mirrors their sign up name. It looks too mechanical to individuals and yet each one has a unique sign up name. Thanks. JP

Hi –
http://nvaikikai.org/ is not hosted with WordPress.com.
There are 2 versions of WordPress. What we do at WordPress.com is a bit different from the installation of WordPress that you use with a hosting company.
This guide outlines those differences: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
You’ll want to post at wordpress.org/support/ for help with this site.
It sounds like you have user registration enabled. Go to Settings>General>uncheck the “Anyone can register” option.

Thanks Liz, that was perfect. I am actually hosting on my own server, so I am learning on the job. This was perfect, now I understand where the subscribers came from. I turned off the membership flag and deleted the subscribers. Thanks for your help. Regards JP
