Technical blog

Hi. My WP blog contains technical figures, equations, and other numerical data used to support a physics textbook. The formatting is very difficult to control, and I think the overall appearance of the site is pretty shabby. What can I do to get better control over the formatting? I usually write the blog entry in MS Word, and then paste to WordPress. Then I put on the figures, using MS PPT, and enter the equations using an online Latex generator. But the equations are displaced below the line of text in which they appear, the indentations are haphazard, the figure placement is uncontrollable. How can I get a better appearance? Yes, I’m using the free version of WP.

    Hi!

You should use a basic text editor when writing your blog post. Using MS Word/MS PPT and then pasting into the WordPress editor causes whitespace (random indentions and bad formatting) to appear. MS Word/MS PPT and the WordPress editor rely on two different protocols to process text.

WordPress also has a guide for using Latex

    LaTeX

What I suggest is to try using a basic text editor with the Latex formatting guide and see if you notice any changes.

    Let us know what happens.
