Howdy,
Your free WordPress.com site includes 3GB of storage (new Free sites in 2022 have only 1GB of storage space). Your media library has 7684 items in it. So I suspect that you have just filled up your allotted space.
Your best bet would be to step up to the Personal plan:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
This gives you 6GB of space and also offers benefits such as removing ads and allowing the use of a custom domain if you wish to use one.
I would also encourage you to consider uploading smaller images unless you REALLY need them to be full size. You could also consider converting PNG images to JPG before you upload (unless you have a specific reason for not doing so). PNG is not a very compressed image format and makes for larger files.
Let us know if anything is unclear or you have any questions.

Thank you for the prompt reply. If I delete some of the images from the 7684 items in my media library, would it affect the posts. I mean if the images are attached to an article and I delete them from the library, will they be removed from the post too??

Yes, that’s exactly what would happen. Deleting anything from your media library will also remove it from any post, page, or any other element on your site (header, sidebar widgets, etc.) that uses an image originally uploaded to your library.
I hope that clarifies things!
