Technical Error with display-post Shortcode

Hi, I’m trying to add the display-post shortcode to a new portfolio project. When the short code is written as [display-posts id=598 image_size='medium'] it shows up on the project correctly with the feature image and title link to the specified blog post. However, when the code is written as [display-posts id=598 image_size='medium' include_excerpt='true'] in order to show an excerpt of the blog post as well, the shortcode and blog link completely disappear from the portfolio project. I’ve used the exact shortcode as it is written with the excerpt on other portfolio projects and it works as intended so I’m not sure why it’s suddenly failing on this new portfolio project.

  • Hi there,

Which site is this for? I see you have a few on your account. Is there a specific page I need to visit to see the shortcode you have added now? Thanks for the additional info!

Also I noticed you mentioned projects in your portfolio, but you are using the shortcode for displaying blog posts, not portfolio items.

Instead you may wish to try the shortcode here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/

    Hope this helps!

Hi jerrysarcastic, this is the page I was having issues on: https://amp107.wordpress.com/portfolio/garliclauter-nursery/

Previously, when I used the shortcode [display-posts id=598 image_size='medium' include_excerpt='true'] it would not display, but its there now and seems to have resolved itself.

  • Thanks for letting us know.

Content added to a page by a shortcode gets cached, meaning it only updates once the site cache refreshes. I’m guessing in this case that’s all that was needed – the cache for your site is refreshed automatically several times a day.

This also means when you publish new posts, there might be a delay before they appear on that page. This is normal :)
