    I understand there is a limit to page templates on the wordpress site, and I like many of them. In fact there are parts of several that would be nice to combine. For example I like the look of MistyLook, but would like to alternate or change the top picture.

    Is is possible for wordpress to create a template where users could put their own pictures in the top area?

    There are already themes that you can add your own header to and MistyLook is one of them http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/08/which-themes-can-i-add-a-header-image-to/

    Just to be clear on this wordpress.com does not to my knowledge hire designers to create original wordpress.com themes. Some themes originally created by independent designers that are made to run on wordpress.org software are adapted so they will run on this wp-MU multiuser software that we use.
