  i just signed in to wordpress and got free template (greetinghub.wordpress.com) and i want to add analytics code, but dont know where to add. can you help ?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Here is a Quote from the support document

  Google Analytics support on WordPress.com is available as a feature of the WordPress.com Business plan. Visit Settings → Traffic under My Sites to enable Google Analytics.
  
  WordPress.com has built-in stats tracking with reports that offer quick, at-a-glance views of the traffic on your site. New posts, likes and comments are shown alongside visitor activity, so it’s easier to make sense of the numbers.

  Here is the link to the Google analytics
  So you need to have a Business Plan or other option would be to use WordPress Stats.

  Also, missed out on mentioning, Google Analytics code can’t be added externally, but it can be used as a feature provided in the support document link sent you above.
