  Hi
  I would like to make a template to create a basic starting point for my new page, (ie, creating my own theme). When using my new themed template I don’t want alterations to my page to alter my template. Each page will start with the same template, but each page will look slightly different. I don’t want to make a new blank template for each page, I have too many.

  On your Templates Support page it says: Changing a page’s template affects that page only (not your entire site).
  But it does change my entire site.

  Are you currently working on a site on WordPress.com? If yes, are you able to tell me the URL of the site?

  Are you able to offer more context as to what the site is going to be about please?
