Template for open source library API
-
Looking for a recommendation for a template for an open source project, code documentation and tutorials.
Something like this:
https://ionicframework.com/docs/components/#badges
https://learn.wordpress.com/get-published/I see many templates focus on images, which obviously are not relevant here.
What I need:
- Left navigation menu, ideally expandable, should follow the page (or use bread crumbs if it cannot follow)
- Category pages for different function groups
- Minimal stuff on the page to avoid distractions: Header menu, main content, categories and side nav.
- Social sharing links
- Customizable home page with some short sections
I started with TextBook theme, and I am having some hard time doing things like moving the sidebar to the left, remove the black background from page titles, and so on.
I am not sure its a good fit. Not being able to remove the massive black background from titles was the last straw.
Any recommendations?

Let’s ask Staff to assist you with theme selection suggestions. I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question

The ones that come to mind for me would be Twenty Fifteen, Twenty Sixteen, and Twenty Twelve. Interesting that the ones the come quickly to mind were all default WordPress themes.

Thanks for the suggestions. What is the theme of this page? Looks like something I can use:
-
Do you mean the screen shots? Those screen shots were taken on a site using the TwentyThirteen theme: https://wordpress.com/theme/twentythirteen

No, I mean the support site (support.wordpress.com). I believe it is a wordpress site. Which theme was it built on?
-
The support site uses a custom theme that we built in-house, and that is specifically designed to work with a number of custom plugins we also developed in-house, so it won’t work on a regular WordPress.com site.
There also isn’t a self-hosted version of this theme available that you can use on your own WordPress installation.
-
Thanks for clarifying. What is the closet theme that can support a website with similar intensions?
-
I can’t think of any themes here that have expandable/collapsible navigation that is not just a dropdown menu.
I was able to find these that have breadcrumb menus though:
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/breadcrumb-navigationThese have breadcrumbs and the option of a left sidebar, where you could help flesh out your navigation using widgets:
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/left-sidebar+breadcrumb-navigationAnd for the widgets, you could use list-pages or child-pages shortcodes:
From there, if your plan supports CSS, you may be able to build in some fancy collapsible / expandable stuff, but at the very least you’ll have a list of pages.
Also, note I’m saying pages rather than blog posts. I’m assuming your links will go to individual pages rather than categories of posts. If you want categories of posts instead, let us know.

Thanks for the information. The search brings Twenty Twelve, which does not have bread crumbs or left navigation (at least not that I can see). This make me suspect the rest of the results.

Hi there,
I don’t see the Twenty Twelve theme in none of the lists @supernovia gave you. Can you please clear your browser’s cache and try loading those lists again? Here’s how to do it:
If this still doesn’t work or you have more questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help!

Oops, twenty twelve was not part of the query, it was added to the results because its the current template I use. Trying something else now.
